Established in 1967, The Freakybuttrue Peculiarium is a one-of-a-kind museum, gift store and snack bar devoted to Dr. Elwood T. Conrad's unique vision.  Filmmaker Mike Wellins. Lisa Freeman and Eric Bute were infected with Elwood's vision, and instead of being quarantined, participated with him in building "The Peculiarium" to house previously unknown elements of the darker side of the Pacific Northwest's history.

Those who dare, will be exposed to oddities for all the senses including: retro candy, toys, gags/tricks, novelties, one-of-a-kind oddities, monstors, robots, original artwork, books, ephemera and more, all while having access to light snacks within your reach from The Church of Ice Cream. 

Dr. Elwood T. Soar to new heights with Willamette Valley Soaring Club in North Plains, Oregon

 
Find it hard to soar with the eagles while surrounded by turkeys?  Break-out of the pack and check-out Willamette Valley Soaring Club (W.V.S.C).  

W.V.S.C.  is a nonprofit organization in North Plains (just 15 minutes outside of Portland), dedicated to the sport of soaring, or flying gliders.

The club offers introductory rides to non-members as a way to introduce the public to the sport and to share the view from 3,000 feet above the Willamette Valley.

Located at Exit 55 off of Highway 26, the gliderport is open May through October on Wednesdays and weekends, weather permitting. Rides are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, and reservations are not accepted.

The word's out! The world now knows "Fun Stinks" in Oregon....at The Elephant Garlic Festival in North Plains, that is. See if it passes your sniff test this August 12 through 14, 2011.

 
Canada's Leader-Post ranked the world's Top Garlic Festivals...and it should come as no surprise to those in the know, that Oregon's Elephant Garlic Festival made the list.  With a motto like "Fun Stinks" you know this garlic festival has got to be great!   

Evolving from a small festival of just a few hundred people to attendances in the five-digit category, this annual event now ranks 10th in the world for it's pungently coolness, crowns it's own festival king and queen (one has to wonder what the criteria is) and even hosts its own car show.
